Abstract

Post-operative hyperglycemia is the increase in blood glucose following surgery. It is a frequent occurrence, seen in as many as 80% of patients having major surgery. Post-operative denoting the period after a surgical operation. Up to 80% of critically ill patients experience postoperative hyperglycemia, a common complication following surgery. Postoperative hyperglycemia is common, but little is known about how it affects recovery.
